Messages that had either been misinterpreted . . . . or deliberately changed.

Imaginative Narratives
As one who spent more than 20 years sports fishing off the Australian coast, this is Paul's short story about the passion, excitement and determination of two fishermen who catch a marlin after 15 years of trying.
This is a fun prompt from Paul's Writers’ Group, where they were challenged to write up to 1,000 words using one or both of the phrases “Up the Spout” or “Down the Gurgler”.
This is a short story about an engineer working in the Netherlands who finally had time off to meet his wife and daughter in Kuala Lumpur. But when he woke up from his flight he was lost, couldn’t find anyone or anywhere he could recognise, and kept wandering through fog and mist and returning to a huge building he thought was a hospital.

No man is as strong as a Mother’s Love

Shirley McL. - Australia
“I cried when I read "The Forgotten Hero". My dad was one of thousands plucked away from home aged 20 and sent to Vietnam, but when he came home two years later, he was shunned, abused, called a murderer and much worse. Sadly, he died before his remaining fellow soldiers were finally recognised. This poem summed up perfectly how he felt let down and broken by what happened. Thank you.”
David J. – Los Angeles
“I read the Prologue and Chapter 1 of "The Answer" with interest. It got me wanting more. I’m fascinated by how the intriguing opening might twist and turn to reveal the drama that I am certain will unfold. It seems to be in a similar genre to stories by Dan Brown and Salmon Rustie, so hands up to be a beta reader if the opportunity arises”
Joy H. - Australia
"From heartwarming to heartbreaking to lively and fun, the Sumshine Coast Writers Group always enjoys Paul's varied and engaging written contributions and articulate, warm and helpful presence."

The patter of rain as it beats on my pane;
A sky that is sombre, not blue.
Dark clouds are parting, sun shining through. But the light is so bright, has it blinded me too?
